Seriously, Kyoto Animation, if you’re going to support new anime’s please support anime’s like these, these sort of anime’s who actually try to make GOOD anime’s and not just some sort of run over the mill moeblob type anime that you guys usually do. But I forgive KyoAni cause they still made some of the greatest gems of the anime industry.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow, to the creators of this anime hands down mate, you got me, you know, I actually thought that this anime would be the same moeblob type of anime that I’ve seen redone by KyoAni every damn release but thank the lobster gods that KyoAni released something that will freaking end the year again with a bang!
What I liked about this is they captured how mystery type anime’s should work out. Remember that mystery anime’s should always leave you asking for the answer or leave you answering the question at hand also I like how the clues don’t derail you from the answer because some mystery anime’s do, they give you clues and when the clues are too broad then it would derail you thinking of something really far away from the answer given by the anime. Because I’m big on mystery type anime’s, I’ve seen not quite a lot of them but answering legit mystery questions makes you look like a detective is it not?
Also if were talking about characters with actual depth then this anime would be a good topic, characters whom you just see with only one side of their personality is just.. Meh, no depth is in there it doesn’t really help them look more human like meaning more depth.
Okay I’m sorry but I really need to spoil this in order to give an example just skip ahead to the next paragraph if you don’t want to read this, anyway look at Fukube san his personality at first was always shown as energetic, easy going, happy but when he got affected by jealousy he turns into something else, he wants to achieve more, he wants to be greater but at the same time grounded due to the fact that he’s not capable of doing so.
In terms of adding more depth there’s also a side of this anime that got a really nice touch, the character development, you know how in other anime’s character development was always like, not apparent or not being shown in a way that viewers would actually recognize it or care about it, it’s a good thing that this anime tried to make it, otherwise its just gonna be another hard road to hoe in terms of convincing viewers that there was actual character growth or development
I kinda wanna wish that the series took a darker end, there was a possibility for a twist there but I suppose that kind of end is supposed to be a tie leading to another season which would probably be good depending on how well Season 2 would do, if there ever is even a season 2. Well, lets probably hope for swiftness in this Season 2, ahaha… No seriously, I want this Season 2 out like in the near future.
I also want to thank the creators that they didn’t badger the viewers witch a bunch of cliché moments between the main character and his *air quotes* “Love Interest” Seriously way too many writers did that already and its just an easy way out for them leaving a lame ending, well at least the ending we got is sort of a cliffhanger so its not really fine to judge it like that but its different at best.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.Her sister
-What the hell is up with her sister? Why doesn’t she show her face? Does she have a large scar in her face? (No, there wouldn’t be)
2.Silly problems
- Sometimes the characters get a little bit too worked up about small things…
3.The given clues
- Sometimes the given clues in this anime, requires that you know at least something about Japanese letters or how you pronounce things depending if its this or that, sorry I couldn’t give a good explanation because I suck at this particular area of being an otaku.
4.I can't help but think..
- WHERE THE HELL IS OREKI'S PARENTS? I've seen them in one episode where he was shown inside his house but when he gets another scene where he's inside of his house, NO PARENTS.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Story – Again, let me redo the plot of this thing. The anime revolves around the members of the classics club, they solve mysteries together or should I say Oreki solves the mysteries then Ms.Kininarimasu or should I say Ms. Chitanda is the one asking the questions, as the story moves forward some of the characters realize something in themselves but it isn’t actually worth mentioning because that’s just me pointing out the character development and so the story moves forward again now the mysteries are quite smaller than the usual two episode or 3 episode or even the grand 5 episode mystery but one things for sure the relationship between Chitanda and Oreki is unsure.
Now that’s actually just the entire content of the show, if you consider the OVA which was just done for fanservice purposes . Kinda insubstantial huh? But that’s just on paper, the content like this in the show is enough for this show to be substantial.
Artwork – Ever seen K-On? Just renew the way KyoAni does the eyes for the character and also renew the way their hand-size. That’s about the only artwork I can see here…. I guess I should mention the way that the animation was done, ever saw Hyouka on blu-ray?.. It was just… Naah, same thing that you see the 3D parts of the animation just looked iffy especially in the movie episode, they combined the 3D-ish dimension with the characters 2D – dimensions that just looks iffy as hell. They’re good but combining those two things is like putting red bull on your other hand and coffee on the other you drink both and you die.
OP and ED – The first OP was definitely my favorite.. Well lets talk about if it fits.. 1st OP? IT FUCKING FITS, 1st ED? Didn’t fucking fit, 2nd OP? fit but was not good as the first one, 2nd ED fitted perfectly with the whole Sherlock and Watson style for the characters.
Fanservice - If you want to look at girls with ecchi scenes... Go away, seriously this is not for you. I suppose there are a few fanservice moments but that's just usual to my eyes now, a kid who just discovered anime's would probably get there hands all wet and do something with something... Okay lost my train of thought there... Anyway what was I talking about?.. OH yeah, The fanservice in this anime is only a little bit so if you like anime's with a little bit of fanservice then go ahead with this one.
Mystery in it - Like what I've said a good mystery anime would leave you baffled about what could the answer be or it can make you answer it yourself, this particular feat of mystery anime is the same as what I could describe as a good mystery anime and the fact that you're not just watching there guessing with no clues is always a plus.

So This Anime?
Pass, Average, Fail
Pass, Average, Fail
a definite PASS would be the best for this anime, seriously you can point out the flaws of this anime like how some of the characters are just as generic as fuck but that's not really what you're going to look at huh? Also these are probably the kind of anime's that just goes by unnoticed, I don't want that to happen its a good anime, not generic, has actual depth to the characters their personality is not just like a flat piece of paper. Seriously, please don't make moeblobs anime's anymore KyoAni... =.=" I've had it with those sorts of anime's.
Also on a side note if you don't know this... Chitanda Eru is being voiced by Ritsu. (You know what I mean)
